[edit]13 Jan 2007 I found this article to be helpful. It contains more information than a dictionary entry.
I reorganized this article because it was logically backwards. Maybe it no longer needs the cleanup tag? -- Ssilvers 19:29, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- At this point, I think it's okay. Marc Shepherd 19:37, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- It also occurs to me that this is really just a dictionary entry. Information about the history of the word "straphanger" could be embedded in another, more substantial article? -- Ssilvers 19:40, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Its suitability as an encyclopedia article is questionable, but perhaps someone can turn it into a real article. As noted at WP:NOT, Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Marc Shepherd 19:44, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- This is not a dictionary entry, its a article about a word and its history.Patcat88 20:43, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- If that's the case, then the proper steps should be taken to move this to Wiktionary. Pacific Coast Highway (blah • lol, internet) 20:08, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Not sure. There are a lot of web hits. I added a bunch of stuff, but I'm still not sure. Maybe there is a good article here. But I'll let some of you subway fans go for it. -- Ssilvers 20:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
big cleanup
[edit]Hi. I moved the quotes defining "straphanger" to standing passenger. I left the military jargon and the bit about maine here but they might get deleted by someone else under Wikipedia guidelines (I am an Inclusionist). I have tried to work to these guidelines. I hope anyone coming here will find what they need. In WP:Good faith, Nankai (talk) 07:49, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
- ...on second thought I moved the military and Maine definitions to Wiktionary, as they were not defined there and they were given on this page in a dictionary treatment rather than encyclopedic, and WP:Wikipedia is not a dictionary. In WP:Good faith,Nankai (talk) 07:56, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
