Stranger, then Paradise
[edit]I think of the movie as having two parts: Stranger, then Paradise. (so what.) :-) MartinGugino 06:48, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
WP:FILMS Assessment
[edit]I have assessed the article at start class. For the article to continue to improve the article is going to need additional citations. For example, the entire "Themes" section is unsourced and may be considered original research. I went through the article and made various changes, please look them over. I'd recommend looking at other film articles to see how this one can be further improved. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talk • contrib) 02:44, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
Excised section
[edit]I've removed the following "Themes" section as original research. If anyone wants to restore it with supporting reliable sources, please feel free.
- Themes
The style of the film is generally considered a direct statement against pop cultural values of the time, such as MTV. For example, MTV is loud and colorful, while the film is shot in black and white and with minimal dialogue. Also, MTV is very rapidly paced, while Stranger Than Paradise deliberately places black space in between each of its sixty-seven shots. Finally, MTV is based on the use of celebrities, while Jarmusch used some of his personal friends for the film, all of whom were unknown actors.

Time, space and the car
[edit]By the look of Willie and his apartment (aspirator and the music used) we are suggested the action takes place in the 50 to 60s. The car is a 1965 Dodge Coronet 440. But then, contemporary 80s cars (a Mercedes and a Pontiac) appear in the back window. Low budget problem or simply general disinterest? 37.157.153.107 (talk) 19:08, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
