Reads like stereo instructions
[edit]In the semiconductor literature "strained Si" is used somewhat ambiguously to apply to any process which uses strain engineering to effect enhanced device performance. This article reads like a laundry list of these ambiguously defined strained Si applications and is self-contradictory as a consequence. Maybe a more generic post on strain engineering including all prominent strategies? Irene Ringworm 22:04, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
There is a similar process which pushes the atoms together... I don't remember what the process is called but it is used in conjunction with strained silicon. Maybe someone can research that.
- Actually, the opposite process is also called strain. It's tensile strain when the atoms are pulled apart and compressive strain when they're pushed together. Tedsanders (talk) 18:48, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
