Defense?

All snakes have some form of defense. What is this little guy's way of protecting himself? -Working for Him 18:55, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir, It has been my experience with the four that I have found in my yard (Upstate South Carolina), they excrete on their captors. The smell is similar to a skunk smell, but luckily much less potent. It will definitely defend them from curious mammals. Their gland is approximately an inch before the tip of their tail. I misidentified it as an injury caused by my rake when we first met.
