Mistaken identity
[edit]The article currently conflates two William Smiths. Manchester City had both on the books at the same time, and so they were nicknamed after their home towns of Buxton and Stockport. The "Buxton" Smith was a half back, for whom Manchester City was his only league club (144 apps, 5 goals). "Stockport" Smith played for Stockport and Newton Heath, and could play as either a half back or inside right. Oldelpaso (talk) 10:29, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
