Comparisons to Led Zeppelin

[edit]

It would be nice to remove the comparisons to 'Black Dog', 'Whole Lotta love' and 'Dazed and Confused' unless they are referenced correctly. Because Joe Holmes wrote 'Dazed and Confused', Willie Dixon wrote 'Whole Lotta love' and 'Black Dog' bears more than a resemblance to Fleetwood Mac's 'Oh Well'. Dixon and Holmes have both successfully sued Led Zeppelin for plagiarism, so unless Led Zeppelin have sued David Coverdale for copyright claims then all comparisons should be removed! It is not fot for wikipedia. Reeferboy (talk) 11:17, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With sincere respect (because I'm not dismissing your points completely) I think you are being a little disingenuous in dismissing these comparisons. The way in which it sounds like D&C and (more so) Whole Lotta Love, have NOTHING to do with their original versions. The similarities are only to the incredibly unique Zep versions. Also, if you don't mind bringing up Oh Well to compare to Black Dog, why hesitate to mention Black Dog in comparison to Still of the Night? The similarity is more striking there. Most of all, I just feel that the comparisons offer a perfectly reasonable, well warranted jumping off point for inviting young people to delve into rock history. If you leave out these comparisons, the only result is a missed opportunity to introduce people to even more music history. How is that preferrable? 162.40.51.19 (talk) 16:47, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't Think vandenberg played a single note on this song! His only contribution to the 1987 album was the guitar solo for here I go again. That's it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.101.78.163 (talk) 04:22, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This song has never been know as "In the still of the night". Where does that info come from????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.160.219.96 (talk) 23:18, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
