Government Waste ... ? (But funny in an obtuse way) ...

Local Olympian wins $300,000 federal flooding grant in Hampton
It belongs to Steven E. Riddick, who won a gold medal as part of the United States' 4x100 relay team in 1976. In 2000 Riddick pleaded guilty to a forgery charge in a plea deal tied to dubious travel expenses filed when he was a track coach at Norfolk State University.
"Is that a problem?" Riddick asked when reached by the Daily Press. It is not, according to the federal rules controlling this grant. The house, not the owner, is judged when the Federal Emergency Management Agency lays out taxpayer money to raise homes with recurrent flooding problems, or to buy them outright and knock them down. If a house scores well in the FEMA formula used to score applications, it moves to the front of the line. Hampton Emergency Management Coordinator Hui-Shan Walker, whose office oversees this process at the local level, said she knew nothing about Riddick's criminal history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.184.218.187 (talk) 16:27, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
