A request was made to provide references to the edits I made for Steve McLelland, a Scottish footballer who played in Australia with Green Gully. I have used two individual sources for this player's record, Aussie Footballers and the Victorian League archive on OzFootball, which relies on research conducted by John Punshon (a statistician in Victoria for almost 30 years). Can you explain why this edit has been reverted?

The records on Aussie Footballers for players in Australia only include the top tier, ie. the NSL or A-League. McLelland played for Green Gully between 1983 and 1989. Green Gully only ever played in the top tier for the years listed on Aussie Footballers - ie. 1984, 1985 and 1986. The remaining years were in the Victorian State League (effectively, the Australian second tier), hence why I have included the references for the seasons where McLelland played for Green Gully in the State League. His appearances are a combined tally of what appears in each of those season files, plus his national league record with Gully. Does this make sense?

Yes, but doesn't deal with my SYNTH concerns, or the fact for the other years you are seemingly going through individual match reports and adding the stats up yourself? GiantSnowman09:57, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
