– Steve and Steven are two different names. Also even with "Mc" and "Mac" there should be no trouble. Unreal7 (talk) 14:47, 29 May 2016 (UTC) -- Relisting. - Oppose – too similar to rely on WP:SMALLDETAILS;
Steve and Steven are two different names
– I strongly disagree; we also have a different Steven MacLean (footballer). Actually, I would rather merge Steve McLean (disambiguation), Stephen McLean (disambiguation) and Steven MacLean (disambiguation) and work on from there (to add to the mix, there's apparently a filmmaker Stephen MacLean, today redlinked). - One's known as Steven, the other's Steve but is that short for Steven, Stephen or something else, or just Steve? Are they likely to be searched for with either name? Whether they are Mc or Mac is something people may not always remember but hatnotes are enough; spelling and derivation of names are more than the small details used as examples there. - Support. These are totally spellings per WP:SMALLDETAILS, and hat notes will do a better job getting people where they want to go rather than sending everyone to some dab page that includes articles of different spellings.--Cúchullain t/c 14:20, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- I am no fan of disambiguation pages, and prefer to avoid them when likelihood of confusion is low, but I think it is not here. Maybe it's just me, but I got thoroughly confused just doing the research for my above comment, and for the life of me I don't remember who all those Steves/Stevens/Stephens McLeans/MacLeans are, and how their particular name is spelled. As a reader, I would rather be presented with a dab page with clearcut choices than to navigate through a maze of hatnotes and dab pages to find the "right" Ste*e M*cLean. - Support Two different names and nothing here that a hatnote can't fix. Number 57 22:14, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

- Comment. While I still dislike the RM outcome, I tried to facilitate navigation by merging the dab pages into one, located at Steven MacLean, and pointing to it in the relevant hatnotes. No such user (talk) 11:12, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
