Endorsements?

[edit]

Would it be worthwhile to add information on his endorsement of guitar manufacturers? (Valley Arts, Ernie Ball Music Man...) Elp gr 21:10, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sessions and guest album appearances

[edit]

These lists are unreadable and practically unusable as reference material. They really need to be sorted and reformatted to become useful.  (aeropagitica)  20:49, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

You need more. Quite a few paragraphs have none at all. --andreasegde 17:21, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you give me example of places that need citations? Inline citations are only required after statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged; otherwise, I have used a single citation at the end of a paragraph to provide the source. In paragraphs where there is no citation, it is presumed that the source given at the end of the article (Lukather's biography) is the source. --Bloodzombie 18:01, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA nomination failed

[edit]

I'm going to have to fail this for a lack of referencing. Here are some unsourced things that need refs. Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:21, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Lukather indicates that the album "changed his life" and that he was greatly influenced by the guitar playing of George Harrison in particular."
  • "It was during this period that Lukather became interested in the idea of being a session musician with its opportunities to play with a variety of famous musicians."
  • "Lukather felt that he needed to step up and make sure the band kept going."
  • "Lukather has expressed that writing lyrics is not one of his particular aptitudes."
  • "Lukather has expressed frustration in the media with Toto's decline in popularity in the United States since peaking with Toto IV."
  • "Lukather has released four solo albums: Lukather (1989), Candyman (1994), Luke (1997), and the holiday album Santamental (2003)." - Discogs can cite this, probably
  • "Luke was a much different and more introspective album than Lukather's previous two solo efforts."
  • "In September 2006, Lukather announced plans to record two solo albums, one of which will be instrumental."
  • "Lukather was flattered by the invitation to tour with Carlton, citing him as his favorite guitarist."
  • "He is known for fast, melodic lines that often combine blues phrases with jazzy 'out' notes"
  • "Well versed in theory, Lukather can follow chord charts and changes as a jazz musician would, and this enhances his value as a session musician. In interviews, he has explained how he thinks of the guitar in a "chordal cluster" format, and not the typical "linear scale" format."
  • "His relationship with Ibanez and Valley Arts yielded an endorsement for a brief time in the 1980s with the release of the Ibanez Roadstar RS1010SL and Valley Arts Custom Pro Steve Lukather Signature guitars in 1984/85."

The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.

  • Per Wikipedia:Context and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates), months and days of the week generally should not be linked. Years, decades, and centuries can be linked if they provide context for the article.[?]
  • Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
    • Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “All pigs are pink, so we thought of a number of ways to turn them green.”
  • The script has spotted the following contractions: Can't, Can't, if these are outside of quotations, they should be expanded.
  • Please ensure that the article has gone through a thorough copyediting so that it exemplifies some of Wikipedia's best work. See also User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a.[?]

Keith Richards

[edit]

Not sure if calling someone the "Keith Richards" of his generation is a complement... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.13.1.142 (talk) 03:53, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement

[edit]

I recognize the need to improve this article, as Leahtwosaints pointed out. I did bring it to GA (to try out the process and see how it differs from FA) but I struggled with editing out a lot of peacock language that was existing in the article. Some of it has been reintroduced over time and I'm afraid I haven't done a good job keeping the article clean. If folks have any specific feedback, please list it here and I'll be happy to work on it. There are a lot of good, newer sources to use that have come out with Luke's newest album. --Andy Walsh (talk) 21:50, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
