This article is amateurishly subjective and original research, thus invalid. No legitimate sourcing is given for the lies about the sexual attraction to the "exotic dark coloring of Italians", the "non-whiteness" of Italians, and other such nonsense. The whole article is highly unprofessional, perpetuates false retroactive myths, and is an implicit defamation of the Italians who immigrated to America.
- As an Italian who moved to a predominently non-Italian neighborhood, I have to say, much of the article is an accurate description of the stereotypes many non-Italians place on Italians. The article never says that the stereotypes are true. The WHOLE POINT of the article is to describe stereotypes. Really, the passage about Italian women is amateurish and unprofessional (I didn't write it), but it IS also a common stereotype. Besides, just look at the page about Asian stereotypes: it's FULL of juvenile stereotypes about the sexuality of Asian women. So maybe instead of getting uncomfortable about this article you should open your eyes and see that these ARE all actual stereotypes, common even today. If you live in a neighborhood where there is no stereotyping and everyone is considered equal, good for you. I would love to find that place and live there someday. But my experience as an Italian has shown that many people believe these stereotypes, regardless of how true they are. Maybe we should include a disclaimer on the top of the article stating that the stereotypes are, well, stereotypes. Oh, and there are in fact whole books about the non-whiteness of Italians. It's not unheard of at all, and I can't see how it is a shock to you that Italians (mostly Southern Italians) are considered non-white. It's not that startling to me, considering I am Italian, I have very dark skin, and I have been regarded as non-white on several occasions, as have many of my other Italian friends. Apparently, I'm not really that "white," and in my personal opinion, I don't see myself or any of my Italian friends as "white."
