The result of the move request was: moved. per consensus, and add hatnotes. – robertsky (talk) 00:07, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
Stephen Kirk (handballer) → Stephen Kirk – Steve Kirk (disambiguation) currently lists only two articles: Steve Kirk and Stephen Kirk (handballer). Rather than using a pointless disambiguation page, it'd be much better to move Stephen Kirk (handballer) to Stephen Kirk and add an hatnote for each article saying "For the footballer/handballer, see Steve/Stephen Kirk". Sock (tock talk) 20:16, 18 December 2023 (UTC) This is a contested technical request (permalink). – robertsky (talk) 15:01, 22 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose. They're both called Stephen Kirk. No primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:48, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- I've moved Steve Kirk (disambiguation) to Stephen Kirk, as that's the common name amongst them both. — Amakuru (talk) 17:48, 19 December 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Although the birth name of footballer Steve Kirk is indeed Stephen Kirk, there is no evidence that his WP:COMMONNAME is "Stephen Kirk". Furthermore, since the Stephen Kirk dab page does list only two men, there is indeed no need for it and likewise no need for Stephen Kirk (handballer) to use the parenthetical qualifier "(handballer)" when simple hatnotes atop the two men's entries would be more intuitive. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 04:17, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Weak support roughly per Roman Spinner. All cited sources (about 6 of them) refer to the other guy as "Steve" or "Stevie". Although the one source cited in this article uses the headline "Steve", the body of the description uses "Stephen". The IOC refers to him as Stephen C. Kirk and a Daily Pennsylvanian article about him being featured on a postage stamp refers to him as "Stephen Kirk". This is a WP:TWODABS situation, were a lower threshold for primary topic applies. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:06, 22 December 2023 (UTC)
- Support per Roman Spinner. –
