Whole biography lifted from non-GNU website?

[edit]

I am checking this out. If true, should whole biography be deleted?

I may interview Stel Pavlou for correct biographical info...

I'll check on the copyright issue, what site? We can't use anything from an unpublished interview, please see WP:RS and WP:Verify. dougweller (talk) 07:27, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Publishing an interview and permanently locating it on the Internet is no problem; however, the bio still appears totally lifted from http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/p/stel-pavlou/ with a copyright dated 2009. Hotfeba (talk) 16:46, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can't just publish it on the Internet, it would have to be in, say, a newspaper or magazine, is that what you mean? Thanks for the url. dougweller (talk) 17:37, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think a review of Pavlou's work in print media and hosted at the publication's website would do just fine under WP:QS. Now... off to bribing a reviewer... ;-) Hotfeba (talk) 20:50, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources needed for claims about popularity

[edit]

Thanks for the recent work on this article. If you want to say the works are bestsellers, or the film a cult classic, you need to cite a source that makes that claim. While it's clear that both the novels and the film were widely reviewed, and the works were clearly notable, I don't see those descriptions in the reviews I turned up. – SJ + 23:37, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

More cites needed

[edit]

An Atlantis sequal "was planned" - I see no mention of it online. If this is true, add that detail to the novel's article, with a cite. – SJ + 23:47, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Published in 12 languages" - given the other unsourced claims on this page, I'm inclined to remove this line unless someone can point to a cite for it as well. – SJ + 23:47, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

This page appears to fail WP:AUTHOR, as this guy has written a few sci-fi books, a screenplay for a mediocre movie, and hosted a pseudoscience archaeology show on Discovery Channel about Atlantis. I would prefer that the issues are hashed out here, rather than going through a back-and-forth edit war with someone with an IP address in the city as the subject of this article. I would suggest pinging more senior editors, such as @ජපස and Davey2010:. Thanks! Qt.petrovich (talk) 18:24, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IMHO the article should be deleted for being a non-notable person but the community stopped giving a toss what I thought years ago. I would suggest renominating. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. –Davey2010Talk 18:31, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wait a sec. The dude’s on Discovery? How come you know that? That info’s not on his page. He must be pretty notable if you know this outside of his page. You need to update it. User:Madvark — Preceding undated comment added 05:01, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I added a piece in The Daily Beast that talks a little about the show and how it is psuedoarchaeology. Even with this added, the guy is far from meeting notability. Qt.petrovich (talk) 10:33, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Post about it at WP:BLPN. See what people there think. jps (talk) 21:50, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just as an FYI, I've given the IP address a warning for 3RR and specifically directed them here for the discussion after they reverted me. {{u|Abillionradios}} {Static} 05:48, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
