Annals of Carnegie Museum
[edit]It really is "Annals of Carnegie Museum" without any "the". I have no idea why, but that's how it is. And no, it's not just the website either – I've seen dead-tree issues and even possess reprints.
The Handbuch refers Stegotretus to Gymnarthridae, which no other publication (neither the original description nor any phylogenetic analysis such as Ruta & Coates 2007) has ever done; they all say it's a pantylid. Carroll (in the Handbuch) not only didn't comment on his sudden referral of S. to Gymnarthridae, but specified how S. differed from Pantylus, while not mentioning "other" gymnarthrids at all. I suspect Carroll made a glitch, perhaps confusing it with Trachystegos which has been regarded as a pantylid or gymnarthrid at various occasions.
