Unwarranted deletion
[edit]The article clearly said that its namesake was the leader of the Debian project. How is that not important? Steve McIntyre has a page, so why can't there be a Stefano Zacchiroli page?Attys (talk) 02:09, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- How does this meet the criteria in WP:BIO or WP:GNG? ttonyb (talk) 03:05, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
It just seems like if we have a page for some Debian Project Leaders, we should have one for all. Each one is equally important to the project. I agree that this article is currently just a stub, but it cannot grow if it is deleted immediately. Attys (talk) 07:55, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- That is not how Wikipedia works. You can't just create an article for a person because they are a Debian Project Leader, instead you have to justify each person being notable in their own right. WP:NOTABILITY:
“ | if no reliable third-party sources can be found on a topic, then it should not have a separate article... If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list.
"Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail |
” |
- So where is the significant coverage of this man and his life? Where are the extensive third party sources on the topic of this man and his life? Having a particular job or role, or being mentioned in passing as the author of some particular software, is not enough, there should be extensive third-party sources that discuss this article topic (the man and his life) in detail. That's how notability works on Wikipedia. 90.193.161.42 (talk) 14:41, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Photos
[edit]I have two fairly terrible photos of _zack, both taken at the OCaml users conference last April:

Maybe the second one is reasonable for this article with a bit of cropping.

[edit]"Succeeding Steve McIntyre, he was himself succeeded by Lucas Nussbaum in an election where he himself was no longer a candidate." to "Succeeding Steve McIntyre, Zacchiroli was succeeded by Lucas Nussbaum, after abstaining from the election." 68.201.64.136 (talk) 05:36, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
