[edit]The appearance of this song in position number 1 on the World Digital Song Sales appears to satisfy musical notability. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:17, 1 July 2020 (UTC) Is the submitter stating that the song satisfies the musical notability criteria based on charting number 1 on the digital sales? Robert McClenon (talk) 23:18, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: No. I thought the song met general notability requirements having received coverage across multiple reliable japanese, korean and eng-lang secondary sources and thus drafted up a basic article. In hindsight, I probably should have waited a bit longer before actually submitting the draft since the album comes out in 2 weeks and more detailed information could be sourced after the fact to flesh the piece out further, but at the time I thought as all the info from my updating the parent album article was fresh in my mind it would be good to have a starting one for the song in place also. In my defense, this is only my 2nd ever attempt at writing an article, the first being in 2018, and I honestly was not aware of WP:NMUSIC. I created my first article and this draft based upon what I have seen other editors do for similar pre-existing articles. Chart+sales data surfacing was not a deciding factor in submission. I have learnt quite a few things since your comment, including the fact that my word count is especially lacking lol, and looked more into the proper development of song articles. In light of all that, I have decided to withdraw the draft and keep working on it until it better meets song article standards. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:49, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
Your help
[edit]Ashleyyoursmile would you mind taking a look at the 'Compos/lyrics' section for me? I feel like I should move some of the comments I included there to the 'Crit Recep' section instead and would appreciate a second opinion. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding where something is more appropriately included, especially when I'm going through multiple sources at the same time. Information overload halts my progress. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:28, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Carlobunnie, Happy to lend a helping hand. So, you can either state the genres and musical styles, and also write about the production etc., in your own words without quoting much in this section. Or, you can keep what the critics are pointing out here, but just move this sentence "He deemed the song "a comforting pop blanket with its scaling, surging hook encouraging listeners to 'stay gold'", and praised it for "delivering empowering words at a time when many need it" to critical reception. I think either way works well. --Ashleyyoursmile! 04:52, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Ashleyyoursmile: I know you're busy with other articles currently so when you have some time could you help me expand the 'Music Video' section? 🙏🏽 I cobbled together a brief (poorly done imo) hybridized description a while back based off of a few of my sources at the time, but haven't gotten around to properly expanding it the way I would like. And you're much, much better at it than I am. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:07, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Carlobunnie, Sure, I shall take a look at it later. :) --Ashleyyoursmile! 06:17, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
