Artist link
[edit]@Pemilligan: The template doesn't create a visible link, but if you go to Special:WhatLinksHere/John Parsons, you'll see that it does produce a link to that dab page. Please restore the nowiki tags. —ShelfSkewed Talk 14:57, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Why is the hidden link a problem? And if it is, why is this the solution when the problem lies in Template:Infobox artwork? It wouldn't be a problem for just this one page but for many that use the template. The template's talk page archive shows that automatically linking the artist was ended after several discussions, but hidden links don't appear to have been discussed. -- Pemilligan (talk) 15:25, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- I am not qualified to address template issues. But the link to the dab page is an issue because such links are generally supposed to be fixed, and appear in reports of dab pages with incoming links. Removing the link—in this case, with markup that is invisible to users—avoids repeatedly taking up the time of editors who fix links to dab pages (see Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links for more info). —ShelfSkewed Talk 16:04, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting you edit the template--I'm not qualified for that, either--but I think raising the issue for discussion there is the appropriate action. Fixing it here fixes just one link. -- Pemilligan (talk) 20:14, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Here we are four months later, and nothing has changed. May I please restore the nowiki tags so I (and others who also fix ambiguous links) don't have to look at this again? It addresses the immediate issue and harms nothing. —ShelfSkewed Talk 04:45, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
