Oldest State Fair
[edit]According to cited info at [http://askville.amazon.com/oldest-state-fair/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=3123112 this Askville site] - the first state fair was in Syracuse, New York, in 1841, eight years earlier than Michigan's. So how does Michigan claim that its was first? "Michigan actually had a state fair in 1839, according to the Detroit Daily News. 'It was a disaster', with only two exhibitors and not many visitors. And even now, Michigan still counts its fair from 1849, yet still claiming to be the oldest." As quoted above (and not under copyright).
Will another Editor please rework this section? Thanks Oconnell usa (talk) 15:11, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- You are absolutely correct; I will fix it. Incidentally, the Michigan fair is now defunct, and they must have taken down (or moved) the web page currently cited. JustinTime55 (talk) 16:23, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
The site you reference actually has some very good reference links for a more detailed history of the evolution of the fairs, which would be excellent for expanding a history section. (The structure of this article is primitive, with the lead paragraph being most of the content rather than just an intro.) JustinTime55 (talk) 21:12, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Alabama State Fair
[edit]The Alabama State Fair is NOT in Montgomery. Montgomery has something they call the "Alabama National Fair", but it is not the Alabama State Fair. The Alabama State Fairgrounds are in Birmingham, not Montgomery. The actual Alabama State Fair has not been held for several years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RevJATB (talk • contribs) 18:52, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
CT State Fair
[edit]As of November, 2007, the fair committee has been disbanded and the fair is defunct.
I wonder if the entries for each New England state should include this. Opinions? - Denimadept (talk) 22:47, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- Hm, maybe just a "regional" entry for "New England". Yeah. - Denimadept (talk) 22:48, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Pennsylvania State Fair
[edit]The five fairs listed for Pennsylvania are county fairs, not state fairs. The State Fair of Pennsylvania is the Pennsylvania Farm Show. I hope that the Pennsylvania information can be updated for accuracy. https://www.farmshow.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspx https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Farm_Show 180.131.229.252 (talk) 06:01, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
