Confusion
[edit]Can't the Philips Arena be confused with the Philips Stadion of PSV? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.156.71.55 (talk • contribs) 20:11, August 30, 2005 (UTC)
- Almost two years later... It was confusing for me, so I added disambiguation links to both pages. I avoided the use of the term football or soccer. Because of the nature of disambiguation links, it's ambiguous whether US or non-US people will be reading it... Gidi70 11:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]Does anyone realize the picture on the page is of the parking deck adjacent to Philips Arena? I'm a tour guide in Atlanta... Trust me... —Preceding unsigned comment added by BandoNintendo (talk • contribs) 08:32, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
You are correct. The picture is of the parking deck across the street (Techwood Drive). Ptkdude (talk) 06:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
2008 NHL All-Star Game
[edit]The Philips Arena is hosting the 2008 NHL All-Star Game, might want to add that into the article. --Stang281 06:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Moved as proposed. bd2412 T 00:25, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
State Farm Arena (Atlanta) → State Farm Arena – Now that the former arena in Hidalgo, Texas has been renamed, there is no need for disambiguation, as this arena is clearly more popular than the Hidalgo one. JE98 (talk) 22:53, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: The proposer seems to suggest that once an official renaming has occurred, everyone will immediately stop looking for a topic under its prior name. No evidence of common name status has been provided. It also seems likely that a shortened form of State Farm Hidalgo Arena, at least for people in the Hidalgo area, will be "State Farm Arena". No one who lives in a city will include their city's name in the common name of their local event venue. Also, the logo shown at the top of the article about that topic says "State Farm Arena". There could also be people looking for the State Farm Center at "State Farm Arena", since it is an arena named after State Farm. However, I do notice that State Farm Arena (Atlanta) does seem to be getting a lot more page views than State Farm Hidalgo Arena. —BarrelProof (talk) 00:05, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- Support - Not because of the name change, though that helps, but because the Atlanta arena is the primary topic, per by the greater number of page views. Local names are generally irrelevant on the national and international level, which is what determines the primary topic for Wikipedia. - BilCat (talk) 00:48, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- Support - I agree with the name change. Most people searching for "State Farm Arena" are going to be looking for the arena in Atlanta, and that falls under the criteria for determining a primary topic. DaveTheBrave ❯❯❯ Talk 02:19, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
Oppose. The State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas may now be officially known as State Farm Hidalgo Arena but I see no argument for how or why searchers for that arena are likely to not be searching for it with "state farm arena". I see no basis for the claim that the Atlanta arena is now WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "state farm arena". I remain open to be convinced otherwise. Tag me if you've got something. --В²C ☎ 17:45, 1 March 2019 (UTC)see below --В²C ☎ 17:51, 1 March 2019 (UTC)- Support, per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC based on clear usage evidence. --В²C ☎ 17:51, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- You seem surprised that a stadium in the huge Atlanta metropolitan area gets more page views than one in some obscure micropolitan area. Or were you making a point? - BilCat (talk) 21:53, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- Neither. Had no idea about their relative sizes or the relative sizes of their areas, primarily because I have no idea where Hidalgo is. For all I knew it was suburb of an equally large Texas metro area. But because of your comment I did decide to check page views... So thanks! --В²C ☎ 22:51, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, no problem. - BilCat (talk) 22:54, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
