I started this page after reading a news article talking about President Bush poking fun at Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten, who has the disease. [1]

Image use

I'm new to wikipedia, but I work in the field and could try to provide several images ilustrating the disease (pictures of the retina acquired with several equipments). How should I handle this issue, specially due to legal constrainst (I believe I can get patients informed consent to use their images without disclosing their identity). Welcome to wikipedia! I need more information to properly inform you. Will the person be visible with the image as in will it show his or her face or any other recognizable features? Which country (legal jurisdiction) will the pictures be taken in? Thank you. No, it will only be fundus images (as the ones you get when search google images for "stargardt image autofluorescence". However, you now have biometric identification, and retina image may be equivalent to a fingerprint. Any specific laws to that? Pictures will be taken in Portugal. I've looked at the links and belive they do not apply to this case, since the face is not visible. Patient must provide it's consent to the healthunit, and then this one to wikipedia, or directly patient->wikipedia? Best regards (84.91.3.196 (talk) 18:06, 4 January 2012 (UTC))

Image from Romanian wikipedia

I ran a search for an image of Stargard, and a found this image from the Romanian wikipedia. According to my search tool, it is fair use, but I'm not sure how to include it in this article. The typical format doesn't recognize the romania image address. Anybody know? Do I need to upload it to the english wikipedia? Rytyho usa (talk) 11:46, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Expansion for Course Assignment

I will be expanding this article for a course assignment in a class I am taking this semester at Cornell University. Having suffered from Stargardt's Disease, I have a pretty good set of knowledge on this topic and there is much more research that has been done on the topic to be added to this page. I plan to expand the "genetics", "History" and "treatment" sections as well as add pictures to be used to give a visual depiction of the view of a retina affected by Stagradt's Disease. I will most likely be working in a group with others to make improvements on this page and as time goes on I will make you aware of who they are. Everything that will be added to this page will be relevant information and will be cited to provide clarification that there has indeed been research done on the matter.
