Life as we know it
[edit]In Errand of Mercy Spock says about the Organians: "Fascinating. Pure energy. Pure thought. Totally incorporeal. Not life as we know it at all." 216.54.205.2 (talk) 14:23, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Parody?
[edit]I would challenge the description of the song as a parody - it is not a topical rewrite of an existing song, which I would argue is the accepted definition of a song parody.85.210.10.45 (talk) 16:29, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Originality?
[edit]In UK Science Fiction Fandom, It's sometimes been said (ObPersonal) that this was an adaptation of an existing Filk song which the named copyrighters appropriated from the zeitgeist. (Compare the controversy over the Hokey cokey.) Does anyone know of evidence either way? {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 185.74.232.130 (talk) 13:22, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- The verse lyrics were originally sung ad hoc by members of the Sealed Knot at their gatherings. John O'Connor learned of them, and he and Grahame Lister built the completed song around them. That led to a search for the Sealed Knot member who originated the verse lyrics, who was eventually found to be Rory Kehoe and so his name was added to the credits.Jess Cully (talk) 08:37, 30 December 2015 (UTC)
- The original Sealed Knot song dates from to the mid-70's, considerably earlier than the attribution in the article. Monstrelet (talk) 22:50, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
