Remaining cover artist's identities

[edit]

The top-right of the illustration detail used on the cover for "Star Trek Lives!" was created by the artist J. H. Breslow for Bantam's "Star Trek 7" novelization compilation. This is my first attempt to suggest adding information to a Wikipedia article so I don't know what level of supporting evidence or justification is expected. I will briefly describe how I discovered this information:

"Star Trek 7" was the only Bantam title for which the cover artist was unknown on the internet, so I decided to try and figure who the artist was. Breslow signed his cover for "Star Trek 7" with a stylized monogram of "JHB" arranged so that the vertical bars of the "H" shared vertical portions of the "J" and the "B", which made it hard to decode. It was read as "CBH" or "C-B" by myself and others supposing that the "C" was reversed for artistic reasons. Eventually I found "JHB" in an online list of artist monograms, and searches on Breslow's name brought back other covers with his distinctive style. He created several covers for Andre Norton titles, and those covers, with variations on his monogram, were identified as Breslow by andre-norton.com. Examples of his art can be found here: http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?147417.

The other unidentified artist on the "Star Trek Lives!" cover collage is Eddie Jones. His is the illustration immediately below Breslow's, and is a detail from Jones' cover for "Star trek 11". Eddie Jones signed his Star trek covers as "S. Fantoni", which was commonly known when I was first started checking out 1970's Star Trek cover artists.

I hope this is helpful and will be glad to respond to any inquiries. Thanks! AllMyDreams (talk) 07:04, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AllMyDreams, thanks for your efforts, but it seems like an original research, which wikipedia doesn't allow. So, please come up with a better edit request with better secondary sources backing your claims. Chirota (talk) 09:11, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
