Genetics project rating
@Aircorn: Hi. I'm a member of the genetics project. This is a "good" (not in the GA sense) article. I'm interested in the topic. I remember learning about the recall as it happened. It's important. But, if the goal of having a genetics project is to improve the presentation of articles about genetics to wp readers, I still maintain that this article should not be under the "oversight" of the genetics project. I believe there is a project something like "history of science" or something like that. There is also a GMO wp page. I encourage you to edit that page to include a discussion about this. I just added this article to the "see also" section of the GMO article. I'm on your side! But, please don't add this article back to the genetics project. We had 2044 pages under our project that were not fully rated, or not rated at all, and I've been going through them to try to figure out what we've got. Thanks, DennisPietras (talk) 18:32, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- A key aspect, probably the key aspect, about this article is that the corn was genetically modified. Any article which talks about genetic modification as a major topic is definitely related to genetics. Thanks for your work in updating the wikiproject, but I can't think of a better project to put this under than genetics. AIRcorn (talk) 19:15, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Aircorn:We continue to differ. IMHO, the key point is that regulatory/containment policies failed, and continue to fail into 2013 as the article mentions. WikiProject Environment has much more activity than genetics. It is a much better "home", IMHO. WikiProject Agriculture would be another good home. WikiProject Chemical and Bio Engineering needs more in the area of BioEngineering. WikiProject United States Public Policy would be good, maybe even the best. WikiProject History of Science could use this article as part of a cautionary section (BTW, I've been criticized in the past for mention of the book "Betrayers of the Truth", which mysteriously disappeared from my university's library shortly thereafter). The genetics project is #502 on the list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_reports/WikiProjects_by_changes WikiProject Environment is #128. I suggest that you select one or more of the other projects, but I'm not going to get into an edit war with you. DennisPietras (talk) 02:41, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
