Talk:Star, Anglesey
Star is a place so small it's not even on the OS 1:25,000 map! I live not far from Anglesey and am familiar with the island's history and geography but had never heard of 'Star' until today. A google search gives a handful of adresses, all of them given as 'Star, Gaerwen'. I don't know if Star is part of Gaerwen community or Llanfairpwll, but suggest this reference (it can hardly be called an article) be moved there as it does not meet the Notability rule. Maybe someone intends to write a long and informative article on the place. If so, let them do it; if not let's merge it. Enaidmawr 00:50, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
I took a mini bus through Star once. Not a lot there. It is on the 1:25,000 map though at around grid reference 512 722. I'll try and be a detective on Google but all I've found so far as that some poor girl from Star drowned in the sea a few years ago....Cls14 (talk) 23:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Nothing remotely interesting on Google and I do make a habit of writing pages on random Anglesey villages. All I have learnt is that there are many holiday homes, a good butchers and an old peoples home. I'd merge. Cls14 (talk) 23:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've retagged this. Seems it is marked on Google Maps (just looked up the reference given), but so what. It's not a town or a village, or even a community, and it's not marked on the OS maps (at least not on my 1:25,000 map). Indeed, as anyone who knows Anglesey will tell you, there are probably several hundred similar places of a couple of scattered houses on the island, but at least most of them are on the map! The tag was removed with the comment that "the town" was on Google Maps, yet you'll be lucky to find a number of much larger places in Wales (i.e. maybe 50 houses or so) on Google Maps. I prefer the OS and local knowledge. Enaidmawr (talk) 21:14, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- Proposed merge into Gaerwen. Enaidmawr (talk) 21:31, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'll second that Cls14 (talk) 11:20, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
