Notable Alumni
[edit]I could really use some help with the notable alumni. I did what I know of, but I could use help if there are others. Unfortunately, since the school is young, most of our renown would be in simple television or film notoriety, but anything would be of benefit. I will be paying attention to see if people post crap, as was the case the first time this section showed up. Thanks! Mschnippert 04:13, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
I placed someone on the list of notable graduates, but that person was struck from the list because they didn't meet the "high criteria" of some jerk. If that is the case, then I am removing the wonderful James Wheldon Johnson who never attended Stanton College Preparatory School as the school opened in 1981, 43 years after his death. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mastertraveller (talk • contribs) 22:19, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Motto
[edit]Aren't mottos usually short? Cedlaod 13:24, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I can help with this. In Florida it has become the "standard" to have ridiculous "school mottoes" that spout some inanity about learning communities and learners and other I-have-an-Ed.D-but-no-IRL-experience BS. So most, if not all, Florida schools have silly mottoes like Stanton's.
41 Varsity Teams?
[edit]Who wrote that? Are they counting chess club? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by This.machinery (talk • contribs) 03:18, 11 March 2007 (UTC).
- I didn't put it, but I think they're counting Girls AND Boys. Going through a quick list, there's Football-M, Flag Football-F, Baseball-M, Fast Pitch Softball-F, Slow Pitch Softball-F, Bowling-F, Basketball-M&F, Crew-M&F, Soccer-M&F, Wrestling-M, Lacrosse-M&F, Swimming-M&F, Track-M&F, Cross Country-M&F, Golf- M&F, Tennis-M&F, Volleyball-F. That's 27. I can't think of any more, but would rather wait to change it for more info. Mschnippert 03:41, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
should be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.227.55.231 (talk) 16:07, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Arjun Good
[edit]I'm glad that the speculative article on suicide was removed, but does this really belong as part of an encyclopedic article on the school? James Pickren was killed tragically as was Ben Cabacungan. We've also had other suicides (if Arjun's death was such). I haven't deleted it so as to not be insensitive, but I don't think this belongs. Matt Schnippert (talk) 14:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Since no one replied to this, I've deleted the section. The speculation about his suicide was not appropriate for this forum, disrespectful, and unnecessary. Matt Schnippert (talk) 14:47, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about the no reply. I think it is neccessary. I was not aware of any other deaths, so they were not added. If you are aware of anything, please add it if you want. Thanks. 2newsjax.com —Preceding comment was added at 16:02, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- In the comment on your reply, the editor who re-removed the material I removed referred to one page, but I think they meant to refer to WP:WPSCH, or specifically here WP:WPSCH#WNTI, where it cautions against the inclusion of "Current school events which are only of short-term interest." If Arjun's death was a suicide, it wasn't the first and likely won't be the last. It's tragic, but it just doesn't belong in the article. It's simply not a lasting part of the school's history.Matt Schnippert (talk) 02:20, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Assessment request: (Start/low)
[edit](Start/low) This had the makings of a good article (not to be confused with be assessed as such at this time). The introduction is great with a good deal of sources. The history section is well-written, but not sourced well. Please add in-citations to this section. The Fight Song and Alma Mater sections are not sourced at the very least and not all that encyclopedic at the most. The alumni section is not sources and frankly, the TV show contestants aren't really all that significant to the school, unless they are honored on a regular basis by members of the community. Also, please use proper citation form for your references. (WP:CIT) — Calebrw (talk) 19:57, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Devil’s Advocate Subsection
[edit]The Devil’s Advocate subsection is too long and contains too much detail. Possible solutions include abbreviating some information or creating a sub article for the Devil’s Advocate. However, I will leave final action to editors with more gravitas than I. TheMindwalker123 (talk) 15:47, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
