"Graze was never charged by the US Government of espionage." Ha, nor were the hundreds of other Americans working for the USSR. The espionage was discovered thru top secret decoding--few were prosecuted. And Graze's relationship with VEsco is missing here too.

Soviet spying accusations

[edit]

@Wikimandia: Prior to my very recent edit, for some time this article identified Graze definitively and categorically as a Soviet Spy during the WWII and the early Cold War. This was based on Alexander Vassiliev's transcription of a Soviet spymaster's notes. Vassiliev sued (essentially) John Lowenthal for libel in London over another accusation from this Gorsky Memo against Alger Hiss: Lowenthal cast significant doubt on the veracity of Vassiliev's transcription. The British courts decided that Lowenthal's assertion was valid--that Vassiliev had no legal complaint. This being the case, Vassiliev's transcription of the Gorsky Memo can't be cited as an unshakeable reliable source. Labeling Graze unequivocally a spy violated WP:NPOV.
