Hello Stanford Wong fans. I have found an extended profile/interview with Stanford that was written in 2002 by Steve Bourie for his American Casino Guide. There are few tidbits that may be of use to the Stanford Wong article.

Some things to consider adding: While teaching finance courses at San Francisco State and getting his PhD, Wong began making a living playing blackjack. "he [Wong] made a deal with the school to teach for free in return for not having to go to the meetings. The University agreed and paid him a salary of $1 for his last term of teaching at the school."

The first name he wanted as his pen name was Nevada Smith, but it was taken.

Also, I think this profile (xhttp://www.readybetgo.com/blackjack/strategy/stanford-wong-508.html) gives a full flavor of Stanford with lots of details not appropriate for the encyclopedia, but interesting nonetheless. Would anyone object to me adding it as an external link? MichaelOpton 17:19, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to make the changes to the article. That's what the Wikipedia is all about.Rray 17:46, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've made the changes that add some more details to the Wong profile. I've also added the link to the extended interview/profile that was published in 2002. Any comments on the title of the external link would be appreciated.MichaelOpton 20:20, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I corrected the link to the original site. 2005 20:48, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect dates?

[edit]

The intro of the article says that Wong published Professional Blackjack in 1975. The bio section starts by saying that Wong began playing blackjack in 1976. While it is possible that Wong published a book about blackjack a year before he started playing the game, it does seem unlikely. Are the dates incorrect, or is this information right? (Maybe Wong started playing in 1967 rather than 1976?) Chris3145 (talk) 08:11, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. Fixed. Objective3000 (talk) 11:24, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
