I hate to be chippy but this is a very, very badly written entry. It's almost unreadable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.124.199.29 (talk) 11:42, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Domestic abuse against Ulrika Jonsson

Stan Collymore spent many days on tabloid front pages in 1998, after it was revealed he was the perpetuator of domestic abuse against his former girlfriend Swedish-born British television presenter Ulrika Jonsson. Jonsson later took out an injunction preventing Collymore from releasing a sex tape involving the two, apparently made while they were on holiday in Jamaica - the video was later destroyed by Collymore. The incident damaged his image if not his football career. [1] —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Saguamundi (talkcontribs) 20:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

That this happened is not disputed. However, user User:Theliksta persists in removing this from the article. These removals seem to be Theliksta's only contributions to Wikipedia, interestingly. I've reinstated it again, with a request that we discuss here rather than having to protect the page etc. --Oscarthecat 06:15, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • As per WP:BLP, negative statements (which you can take to mean "anything that could get us sued") should not be included in the article unless we can source them. Whether I, personally, accept that it happened is not relevant here; if it's well-documented, then come up with a source that you can cite in the article. I don't want to be a jerk about this, but we do have to be responsible about what we say. DS 14:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, "coprophilia"??? I can't see that cited anywhere. I suspect that might be made up... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.34.160.145 (talk) 11:59, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Career after Villa?

[edit]

Why no mention of his football career after leaving Villa in the article?Sparklism 20:58, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

poorly written article

[edit]

e.g. the following sentence(!)

"Highs included being only the third Aston Villa player in history to score a hat-trick in European competition (the other two being his boyhood idols Gary Shaw and Peter Withe) and also bagging two goals against Liverpool in a 2-1 home victory, however, his fate was sealed once the infamous incident with Ulrika Jonsson during the World Cup of 1998 and was subsequently sent on a season long loan to Fulham and was ultimately sold to Leicester City where under Martin O'Neill he regained some of the early form when he scored a hat trick against Sunderland in a 5-2 victory but he suffered a leg break which effectively ended his footballing career"

...doesn't even make sense. Once the infamous incident... what?

Attempted comeback

[edit]

I remember Collymore announcing that he was working on his fitness with a view to playing once more in the Premier League. He accompanied the announcement with a claim that he would surprise people with his level of fitness and technique even at his age (this was around 2007 so he was 35 or so). I think it was Wigan he was training with. Does anyone else remember more clearly? --86.44.87.77 (talk) 09:14, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BLP problems.

[edit]

I'm sorry to say this article whilst containing some quite good well referenced material is one of the worst on my watchlist -and getting worse. Of most immediate concern is the fact that much of it is either uncited or the citation is so vague as to not be verifiable. That particularly applies to "early Life" which just refers to his autobiography. What autobiography? If its Stan: Tackling My Demons then the ISBN-13 no is : 978-0007198061, please cite it with the page number. If you make a mistake but the page and book are clear, someone will help. I've removed a very serious allegation about death threats from the Controversies and depression section and will remove further uncited defamatory material if I can't find references. JRPG (talk) 15:51, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I note 94.193.97.139 has removed uncited material. He is entirely within the rules to do so, though an edit summary would have been useful. Please do not replace it without providing citations. JRPG (talk) 12:08, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

User 64.134.230.237 has added lots of unsourced statements, many of which seem to be bordering on vandalism. At the very least, the three edits on 3rd August (over a week ago!) are likely in breach of the BLP policy. I don't know what steps should be taken. Can someone more qualified take over from here, please? 86.4.242.105 (talk) 02:50, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
