telescope

[edit]

I copyedited and wikified the article. In the process, I replaced A feature of note is a radio telescope, a Culgoora heliograph array dish salveaged in 1997... by A feature of note is a radio telescope dish salvaged from the Paul Wild Observatory at Culgoora west of Narrabri in 1997.... I'm pretty sure you didn't mean heliograph. You may have meant heliostat, but I don't think a dish can be both that and a radio telescope. A useful reference might be [1] --Scott Davis Talk 02:12, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the edit! I got the terminology from http://www.atnf.csiro.au/news/newsletter/jun03/ATCA_report.htm.

Note this quote: " This is one of an array of 96, 13.7-m dishes that circled the present location of the Compact Array. The heliograph array imaged the Sun at 80 and 160 MHz with several discoveries to its credit." The article is by Bob Sault, the current guy in charge of the observatory. The article you point at may be a different type of project. This isn't my field so I couldn't tell you. The location of the atnf is here: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=-30.53083,+149.58889&ie=UTF8&t=k&om=1&ll=-30.318507,149.563236&spn=0.062534,0.171661 You can see the big circle where the telescopes would have been.Rpf 06:20, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heliograph (disambiguation) says that "heliograph" is an obsolete term for a solar telescope, so I was misled about removing the term, but the new sentence is probably still right. Do you want to change anything (or want me to)? --Scott Davis Talk 10:23, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've elaborated a bit. Chop at will :) Rpf 14:00, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History section needed

[edit]

A history section is really needed for this article, particularly as the school/former seminary is quite historical. I don't have time to work on this at the minute, if anyone else is interested, otherwise I may pick it up again later.

Additionally, an architecture section could be added by someone who knows a bit about architecture and/or has easy access to this kind of info about the school. Tinkstar1985 05:56, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
