Merge proposal
[edit]The entries on St Albans are a bit of a mess and show a lack of co-ordinated editing. We have (a) "City of St Albans", which is about the administrative district; (b) this article "St Albans City Council" on the governing body of the administrative district; and (c) "St Albans," which is about the town.
I propose tidying up thus:
- An article about the administrative district, which the local authority calls "St Albans City and District". The article at present called "City of St Albans" contains the appropriate materials for such an article; it should be re-named "City and District of St Albans". The material in this article should be included because there is no good reason for separating an article about the elected council from the article about the local government area.
- An article about the city of St Albans, that is to say, the urban settlement, which will contain all the historical material about the ancient, Roman, medieval and modern town, with due weight given to its ecclesiastical history. That article should be called "St Albans".
That will require a WP:Merge and a WP:Move. Pelarmian (talk) 19:04, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
- There is also a fourth article, of no great length, on the History of St Albans! Pelarmian (talk) 23:08, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Merge completed. No dissent, uncontroversial merge as both articles cover very similar material. Pelarmian (talk) 17:27, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
