Establish Notability
[edit]How is the article notable as per WP:NOTE? Please explain! AnupMehra ✈ 12:22, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Per Wikis Gazeteer function, this is a geostub, they had a PO, they are an unincorportated community, IT is notable. THATS WHY!!!Coal town guy (talk) 02:47, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Please provide a link to the 'Wikis Gazeteer function'. And, 'If only a few sentences could be written and supported by sources about the subject, that subject does not qualify for a separate page, but should instead be merged into an article about a larger topic or relevant list. ' See WP:WHYN, WP:FAILN. Thanks. AnupMehra ✈ 09:24, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Again, its a geo stub. There are literally thousands upon thousands of geostubs on Wikipedia. The reason, is that most of these areas, are on a map, hence the GNIS ref, and had a post office , which I also provided the link for. This subject did have a debate, and to the point, I dont like you tone, or the way your remarks come across as snippy, it flies in the face of assuming good faith of an editor. I will provide the link to the debate about locations and Gazeteer functions in due course. Of note, few is not a number, of note, I do not like one sided edicts in an environment of collaboration. Have you ever been to Kentucky or studied any North American history of that specific area? These places are unique, I would not like to see person unfamiliar with the culture, make any determination, hence why we collaborate. Coal town guy (talk) 17:04, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- This location is also a part of the Eastern KY Coal Field. Ergo, it is part of an area undergoing further historic research, for the sake of coal towns in the United States and also contributed to Appalachian culture. Although NOT well documented, like many locations of this type, ITS NOTABLECoal town guy (talk) 18:41, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Didn't thought you'd be hurt. Accept my apology for dissonance i might have used, believe me, it wasn't intentional. And, please do not take it as personal attack. I was just wondering, how an incorporated community once had a post office(now closed) supported by two primary sources, one of which is a dead link, and other doesn't say anything related to that particular post office, is notable. It is the just name of the place in Pulaski County, Kentucky, United States left with the only that particular primary source. If it is notable it must have been published in some news paper or magazine or some other secondary source(s). I was just willing to say, if you could manage to find those sources and update references section of the article. Not sure, if i succeed letting you know exactly what i wanted to let you know. Just hope, you got it. And again, that was not intentional and i am sorry if you were hurt. AnupMehra ✈ 19:40, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hey! Wondering if you could find please some demographic data supported by some reliable source(s) related to this place? If yes, then it could be notable as per WP:GEOLAND. Thanks. AnupMehra ✈ 19:47, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Made an error, and my apologies, the link is a cold fusion session, I will change that. I believe I can indeed get another ref. Coal towns in the US are NOT well documented, I wish it were different, my job would sure be easier. My apologies to you as well, typing and intent do not go hand in hand, do they? I shall revive the link and look for another.Coal town guy (talk) 22:21, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
- Revived link (Cold Fusion Session, sorry), and found a cultural ref from KYCoal town guy (talk) 22:26, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
