How is "Sproxton" pronounced locally? It's not a daft question — really. The Sproxton in Leicestershire is pronounced "/ˈsproʊsən/". Is Sproxton, North Yorkshire pronounced like that, too, or is it "/ˈsprɒkstən/", as the spelling suggests — or something else again? It would be a good idea to have the pronunciation in the article, even if it does seem obvious from the spelling, just because there is that place in Leicestershire.
Indeed, it might be a good idea to have the pronunciation in every article about a place in the UK, as the country is absolutely riven with placenames whose spellings and pronunciations don't match. Kelisi (talk) 03:01, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
