First Lady

[edit]

The first lady of Malaysia is the Permaisuri, not the Prime Minister's wife...The true First lady is Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong.

That is not true either. "First Lady" only refers to the wife of an elected head of government (i.e. a President). Malaysia is a monarchy. As such, the Permaisuri would more properly be referred to as the Queen Consort of the Agong. There is no such thing as a "First Lady" in monarchical countries. 203.82.94.22 (talk) 10:10, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a way to remove this misleading article from wikipedia? Or make it in such a way so that who ever looks this up understands that there is no such thing as 'First Lady of Malaysia'. Malaysia only have a Queen, and Wife of Prime Miniter. And various other Sultans and Rajas and their wives. (60.50.205.98 (talk) 05:04, 16 October 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Instead of squabbling of technicalities, you guys should take a rest. The title has been unequivocally stated to be de-facto in nature not necessarily official..60.48.199.160 (talk) 14:07, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with 60.50.205.98. I have never heard of the "First Lady of Malaysia" until the controversy regarding the advertisement Rosmah did in the US. The article is not even properly sourced. A google search of FLOM would mostly point to the controversy out of the US advertisement. Even though the article says it is a de-facto title, it still requires citations from reliable sources. I would suggest we rename this article to Spouse of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. eg: Wife of the President of the French Republic and Spouse of the Prime Minister of Australia. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 12:47, 14 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If there are no objections to the move proposal above, i will proceed soon. ќמшמφטтгמtorque 07:35, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support move proposal per Category:Spouses of the Prime Ministers of Malaysia. Bejinhan talks 14:40, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support move proposal per Category:Spouses of the Prime Ministers of Malaysia. Also, the "de facto" argument comes to nought, because if the title is indeed de facto and not official, then why does this page even exist? 203.82.82.37 (talk) 10:21, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If the prime minister's wife herself declare herself as the First Lady of Malaysia I don't see why wikipedia shouldn't reflect the government's stance.Mr.sacrebleu (talk) 08:19, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want to state the obvious, but Wikipedia has no obligations to reflect the government's stance. Bejinhan talks 07:04, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
