This article was the subject of an educational assignment in 2014 Jan-Apr. Further details were available on the "Education Program:American University/COMM535 (Spring 2014)" page, which is now unavailable on the wiki. |
Please edit this page. This page is poor quality and does no justice to these wonderful schools which I attend!

Improvements:
[edit]How we can improve this article:
I think information from the Office of Public Information would be necessary to make it a good article. I also believe that some history (obtained from Public Information or others) would be good. Highlights from SCPS history, accomplishments, milestones, etc. Also, let's check out Wikipedia Schools/Education project for guidelines Wikipelli Talk 21:13, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
How we can lengthen it: I'm not sure that I agree that length = quality. See above for what I think ought to go in. I believe that someone in each school could be tasked with putting in information about the school - perhaps with guidelines so there is consistency between all of the schools. How we can make it more important: —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.62.108.227 (talk) 00:39, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
I think importance is going to depend more on those seeking the information than on those writing it. At any rate, see above suggestions. :) Wikipelli Talk 21:13, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Merger Proposal
[edit]Good idea.... there's no reason to have a page for Battlefield Intermediate. Wikipelli Talk 21:09, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Support, the choice seems obvious.--Supertouch (talk) 21:43, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- No other discussions, I went ahead and merged the pages. :) Wikipelli Talk 14:03, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for no edit summaries! :(
[edit]I keep forgetting to put something in the edit summary. My bad. I'll try to remember. Basically, I've been doing cleanup and additions to the article. I have expanded the infobox somewhat and added a great deal of information about John J. Wright. I'm not sure how much 'historical' information should go in. I'd like to put a table in under "Governance" with each of the school board members' names and their district. Wikipelli Talk 17:01, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Closings and delays
[edit]I removed the list of recent school closings and delays. It's really not appropriate for an encyclopedic article about the school system, in my opinion. Wikipelli Talk 13:42, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Superintendeant Retiring
[edit]Title pretty much says it. Heard some teachers talking about it. ~ Random Contributer — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.74.75.137 (talk) 18:30, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Elementary School Descriptions
[edit]I went ahead of removed the descriptions from the Elementary School section. It doesn't make sense to make a list of schools and then have a brief description for only a few of them. Also, a lot of the information was not cited and did not have a NPOV. Ctufarolo (talk) 01:37, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
School Board Members table
[edit]I changed the format of the table listing school board members. The main reason is because of the 'affiliation' column. The text in the Governance section already indicates that the election of school board member is non-partisan. Thus, by definition, school board members do not have (or, at least, do not publicize) any affiliations. Saying that they are independent is superfluous. Additionally, the 'independent' tag is misleading in that it suggest that they are independent of any major political party. It is better not to have that column in the article. --Wikipelli Talk 23:27, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
