Assess : newly added and existing articles, maybe nominate some good B-class articles for GA; independently assess some as A-class, regardless of GA status.

The table of all Tampa area sports teams, current and former, has gotten way too big and disorganized, imo. I've started work on fixing it up, and I'm planning on dividing it into three tables (or possibly three sections of one table) like so: current major pro and Div I college teams, current minor league and Div II college teams, and a big table with former teams. If anyone has a better idea, please chime in. Otherwise, I'll sort it all out as described over the next few days. Zeng8r (talk) 15:19, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Yosemiter: I agree that the tables still with need work, and sorting things alphabetically usually makes sense. However, as it now stands, the amateur St. Petersburg Swans Australian rules football club is at the top of the second table above current professional franchises (like the current Rowdies and a bunch of Florida State League teams) and several defunct major league franchises (like the Bandits, Mutiny, and the original Rowdies). This is not good, imo.
The defunct major league teams were given their proper prominence when separated into their own table, which is appropriate since they were once far more important to the area than those weekend warrior clubs from today. (I'd also say that at least some of those smaller clubs are not notable enough for their own Wikipedia articles, but that's a different issue.) @Zeng8r: This list was a complete mess as I noted and you put in some good work in response. I was just trying to give it some order where there was no apparent order otherwise. Most other articles also make separate tables for major pro, minor pro, and then everything else (while putting them higher in the article in separate sections discussing the individual levels) and that would solve your Aussie rules club team being above the USL team.
It is impossible to determine rank of major-ness of the defunct teams (ie what was more prominently covered: the original Rowdies in the top level NASL, which was not quite near the Big 4 leagues in being a major league in terms of media coverage, or the Bandits of the USFL, a league that was actually viewed as a rival to the NFL?) In terms of importance, lists of defunct teams are pretty low. Most major metro areas don't even have lists and only talk about the important ones arbitrarily (see Sports in the San Francisco Bay Area#Defunct or relocated teams and is already done in this article to good effect), in a simple list ([[Sports in Buffalo#Former teams), or not at all (Sports in Boston#Other sports teams).
In my opinion, we could do away with all non-notable defunct teams as they are list clutter and we won't miss much in terms of importance to Sports in Tampa Bay area. Since the important teams are already covered in their sections, making them listed higher in what would otherwise appear to be an arbitrarily ranked list at the bottom of the page seems unimportant in the grand scheme of this article.
