Lacking info on original circa-1990s version
[edit]This article seems to completely skip over the original version of Sports Sunday, which was an companion show to the Saturday Wide World of Sports show, hosted by Ken Sutcliffe - generally running from 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. It could just as easily have been seen as a brand extension of the Sunday program, too, given it tended to focus on long-form sports stories.
It suffered a similar fate to its bigger brother in the late 1990s, partly due to the rise of Fox Sports et al, also partly due to Nine eventually starting rugby league telecasts in the 4pm slot (in the northern states) after previously running those at 6.30pm, thus it having moved around the schedule somewhat in the last couple of years of its life.
If more information could be found on this, that'd be great - if I could find the correct template asking for this I'd put it on the article. It possibly could be two separate articles however as the modern version of Sports Sunday - as a panel show - was so different. Spi 21:50, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
