Bikini Bottom
The Bikini Bottom section is too long. I propose a seprate article. Paper Luigi (talk) 03:10, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Making a separate article would go against decision on AfD. I don't think it's that simple to make it an article again. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 13:08, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Goverment?
This section is totally crazy! With all these "Houses" and everything like that. This is just plain stupid. And the section saying Patrick and Gary were Kings from 2007-2020 is pure vandalism. If the time in SpongeTime was really 2020, wouldn't everyone be dead?!? The "government" is very rarely explored and shouldn't be included with this article. Has Nickelodeon ever released info of the government of Bikini Bottom? I will wait for a week from today and if no one has an argument I am removing this info from this article.Cssiitcic (talk) 21:12, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Done. I think it was all pasted in from a deleted article. DJ Clayworth (talk) 21:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
Patrick
For those of you who are unaware, the page Patrick (SpongeBob SquarePants) was recently redirected to this page despite a no consensus (default keep) result. The redirector claims it was based on the peer review above but i have not seen anything in it as to why Patrick is not notable. The page is protected now because of edit warring, but after the protection is lifted (Saturday morning around 1:00 US EDT, 5:00 UTC), the page should be un-redirected pending further discussion. I personally believe the page on Pat should be kept NewYork483 (talk) 04:45, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you, the new page on Patrick met general notability guidelines and should not be redirected here Frank Anchor Talk to me (R-OH) 04:48, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- I also agree. Patrick is a notable character and nothing has been discussed on why he was redirected here in the first place a few months ago. Busta Baxta (talk) 17:19, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- I also agree, if the page on Patrick is re-opened, Wikipedians would be aware that reliable sources are needed, provided the article is properly tagged. Also, it is notable based on the guide lines of WP:FICT <Baseballfan789 (talk) 14:10, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, I did not claim it was due to the "peer review" above, and that semi–automated peer review says nothing about Patrick, so to suggest the redirection (or anything substantial) was done as a result is ridiculous. Secondly, the AfD has no bearing whatsoever on the redirect, as AfD is for deletions, and its closures do not preclude regular editorial processes, such as merging. Thirdly, we do not undo decisions while discussion is pending, articles remain as the status quo until a consensus is reached. The status quo had been redirect for months, and consensus is required to undo this. If you wish to have a discussion about the status of the article with the aim of gathering such consensus, it should be had in an appropriate place. The talk page of an article on another character is no such place. Now to the article. It does not meet the general notability guideline (we may as well completely disregard WP:FICT here, the status of that page is pretty nebulous; it fails that page anyway though). In order to meet notability requirements, the character of Patrick Star (not the show, not an episode, the character himself) must receive significant coverage from reliable sources that are independent of the subject. The only two sources on the page as it stands now do not discuss the character in any way that would grant notability. Therefore, the article does not meet WP:N. I am going to re-redirect this article until a consensus can be gathered, as that is the status quo. Further discussion should take place here, the correct page to have this discussion, where discussion has lead in the opposite direction as this quick discussion. seresin (public computer) 20:40, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- The Patrick Star article existed for a long time, until it was redirected to the character list due to lack of sources. Since then, a significant amount of imporvement of sources has not fully occured, as not many sources have been cited yet. We should just keep information on the character list until enough sources are cited to a point where we can make separate articles. -AMK152(Talk • Contributions • Send message) 13:31, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- Patrick is fat. Dcrocks96 14:44 24 July 2008 —Preceding undated comment was added at 18:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- No, patrick is moderatly fat. Now, there was a lot of info on patrick, who removed it and why. I think we should put it back. Write on my Talk page please. entertainU (talk) 21:57, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- I will put the Patrick page back in a couple of days. Now the Only way I think to do that is copy the text from under the patrick star section from the list of spongebob charachters and paste it to the redirect page so when you search for Patrick Star you will NOT be redirected to the page of the list of Spongebob charachters section or you click the history button and click edit this page you paste the text to the current version. If you don't like the idea, talk page link is right here. entertainU (talk) 20:51, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- I suggest you provide some third party sources that indicate individual notability before recreating the article. It was the lack of these sources which caused the page to be redirected in the first place so it would be pointless to recreate the article without them. Bill (talk|contribs) 20:57, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Eugene Krabs as a Jewish Stereotype??
I think that they should list Krabs as a Jewish stereotype in his description. If Pearl is listed as a "stereotypical American girl...", I think it would be appropriate for the editing of Krabs's description. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.116.131.155 (talk) 00:37, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

In the History > Development section it mentions that Stephen Hillenburg is Ukrainian. I googled "Stephen Hillenburg Ukrainian" and found nothing on this, so can someone give some insight on this? KSava (talk) 10:52, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
SpongeBob SquarePants or Setting of SpongeBob SquarePants series
It is too my concern that a majority of this article is just the setting. This page is about the series of SpongeBob not the setting. I highly suggest that we make a page for the Setting, and shorten it in this article.Anfish (talk) 00:40, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Plankton
In the SpongeBob SquarePants wiki it mentions that there has only been one instance where Plankton was successful at stealing the Krabby Patty formula and that was in the Movie. In the episode Plankton's Army, I thought he manages to get to the recipe and actually reads it aloud. Am I mistaken? Just wondering! Thanks!
--Alexiswk (talk) 22:09, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- In "Plankton's Army", the supposed recipe is a fake to scare Plankton. --UberScienceNerd Talk Contributions 06:12, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Another view on Spongebob & Sandy.
I know this isn't a forum & I know this subject has many mixed views. But I created a long blog that may tell us some insite, that will show us what the Spongebob crew are actually trying to do. I would paste it on here, but probably would get deleted. The link is safe I promise you:
Orangesponge (talk) 11:46, 2 July 2008 (UTC)Orangesponge
- Unfortunately for your view, none of the links provided in your blog are reliable or official enough to be used in the article. The blog itself cannot be used either as you have published it yourself. Has this issue ever been mentioned in reliable publications, Interviews or DVD commentaries? Because then it could be mentioned, but until then it's just too much original research to include at the moment. Bill (talk|contribs) 12:02, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Goofs
Most of you know that the show spongebob has made many animation goofs. I think i should watch every episode and write the number in the article. If you don't like the idea write it on my talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ex-vandalisim (talk • contribs) 16:37, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Unless there is a reliable, published source with these goofs, that's a no-go idea. -- Zanimum (talk) 17:40, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Best Day Ever
This was not, in fact, a 100-episode marathon. A range of numbers were skipped, I believe somewhere around the 60s. 75.118.170.35 (talk) 15:59, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Many Characters Removed From Wikipedia Articles
Patrick, Squidward, Eungene, and Sandy: All removed from wikipedia. We had a lot of info on them but somebody redirected the pages to list of Spongebob Characters. This will be a major subject on my talk page. I WANT YOUR FEED BACK PLEASE. entertainU (talk) 22:02, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- They need more sources. That is why they were redirected. -AMK152(Talk • Contributions • Send message) 19:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think that maybe if we find more sources that we can start
those pages. It doesn`t really matter how many sources there are as there are at least 2. And AMK152, your`e kinda being a bully. No offense. Its the truth. --Dcrocks96 (talk) 13:39, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

The Patrick page is back to normal now, no redirects. Try and search it for yourself and see. entertainU (talk) 21:03, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Article size
As Anfish points out above, this article, at 71KB, is probably too long and should ideally be split up into smaller articles if possible. See the guidelines at WP:Article size, where any article over 60KB 'should probably be split', as such articles can take a long time to load or edit for users with slow internet connections. Shortening this page
I was wondering if somehow we could shorten this page. Anyone have ideas? Its very long and the little bar on the side that you scroll on (idk what its called :]) is too big for it, and at the top Wikipedia suggests that we shorten it. --Dcrocks96 (talk) 13:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Jellyfish
The article says that jellyfish are the marine equivalent of insects in the series. However, I think that they specifically represent either butterflies or bees. Why? They are caught in nets just like butterflies and make jelly in a manner similar to the way bees make honey. Any other views on this? A Prodigy ~In Pursuit of Perfection~ 16:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC) I agree with you Jelly fish could represnt buterflies or bees but which one?--Kangaroo2 (talk) 18:06, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

"Any Porn in this Store" controversy
Should the "Any Porn In This Store" quote be mentioned in the Board Appeal section? If I can remember that episode was actually pulled for a short period of time and later censored.

Where is Bikini Bottom?
In the second paragraph, it mentions that Bikini Bottom can be found at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. In the "Setting" section in the second paragraph, it says Atlantic Ocean.
68.184.32.69 (talk) 16:53, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
I too was wondering about this. Can anyone help out with this? Benqish (talk) 12:35, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- I followed the link given for Atlantic Ocean that lead to the official site. As the site is flash it didn't go straight to the useful information so I removed both ocean location statements. After a few minutes of searching the official webpage I found the 'Show Description' page (click on Squidward's house), which says "Deep down in the Pacific Ocean, in the city of Bikini Bottom, lives a square yellow sea sponge named SpongeBob SquarePants". I'll re-add the info with the official site as the source. Bill (talk|contribs) 11:40, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I have a t-shirt tat says it is in the USA. Bikini Bottom, USA. Look it up. You know what t-shirt I'm talking about. Either that, or e-mail Steve Hillenburg or someone at Nickelodeon. Sponge1987 (talk) 11:02, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, that is also true. The Plankton's Holiday Hits short also says "Bikini Bottom, USA." Just because it is located in the Pacific Ocean, doesn't mean it's not part of the US. Take Hawaii for example. -AMK152(Talk • Contributions • Send message) 22:43, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Decline in quality
There are lots of people who don't like the newer episodes starting from season 4 or 5, but we don't have any sources, as all the complaints are only by non-reliable sources - such as on forums. Still, I think we should add something about the decline in quality of SpongeBob episodes. There was something before, but I think it was removed. 68.63.95.177 (talk) 00:28, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you can find reliable sources, such as critical reviews, then we can add it to the article. But for now, we can't. -AMK152(Talk • Contributions • Send message) 22:43, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- On the WhoBob WhatPants article, some of the reviews used as references mention a decline in the quality of Spongebob episodes. Maybe we could use those, at least to start with? I actually don't know how to add references though ( =_= ), so someone else will have to do that. And I agree, the new episodes are terrible. 74.33.174.133 (talk) 04:09, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- I just added a section with a reference to a critical review. Hopefully no one deletes it this time. ^_^

New Updates for SB Season DVD releases
Hi, Shops in Australia and other Region 4 DVD retailers are going to release the 4th Season of SB. It will come out on 6 November 2008, but instead of Volumes like you have listed on the main page it will come out in a 3 Disc DVD Boxset. May that be added to the region 4 DVD release in the DVD sections?

No citations in "controversies" section.
Not only is the "Controversies" section poorly written (bad grammar, punctuation, etc.), but it cites no sources at all. I'm willing to concede that someone might have found the episodes described controversial due to subject matter, but this comes off only as the author's opinion, since he or she gives no context or sources for these remarks. I'd recommend this section be removed if proper citation cannot be provided. Groovymarlin (talk) 20:32, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Do we need this?
In the "2003 - 2005" section I found this
In September 2007, Nickelodeon began airing two new television series. First was iCarly. Later that month, the Nickelodeon Original Movie Barnyard bacame a Nicktoon series called, Back at the Barnyard. At the start of this series, it was claimed to be a big hit due to similar elements to Jimmy Neutron, and also shows popculture references like the Fairly OddParents.
Is that really necessary? I don't think that has got anything to do with spongebob. =\ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.44.204 (talk) 07:56, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Squirrels do not Hibernate
"Sandy Cheeks is another friend of SpongeBob. She is a squirrel that lives in an underwater dome in Bikini Bottom. She was sent there by her bosses, chimpanzees, according to the episode, "Chimps Ahoy". Sandy is from Texas, and speaks with a Texan accent. Sandy is an expert at karate. Sometimes she gets a little home-sick and sings a little song. When not inside her tree-dome, she wears an astronaut-like suit because she cannot breathe in water. Sandy, just like a normal squirrel, hibernates once a year, as seen in a few episodes such as "Pre-Hibernation Week" and "Survival of the Idiots"."
I'm pretty sure squirrels do not hibernate, or at least most don't. --Farvin111 (talk) 04:26, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Squidward is not an Octopus
Under the heading 'Premise', squidward is listed as an Octopus. He is infact a Squid (hence his name, color and apearance of his 'hands'). While his creators may have reffered to him as both he is quite obviously a Squid. However, the reference to Nickelodeon as describing him a squid does not in fact say anything about what species he is.
Regardless, I think it's safe to conclude that Squidward is in fact a Squid. Leeor net (talk) 20:24, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Stephen Hillenburg said that Squidward is an octopus, but since the name "Octoward" wouldn't make sense, they called Him Squidward. So Squidward is infact an octopus. (by the way, didn't someone say something about this in the past?) P.S. I Rock Wikipedia! (talk) 20:29, 1 December 2008 (UTC)DJ WikiBob
- He in fact is an octopus. While these sites aren't reliable sources, this does note that the behind-the-scenes feature of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie DVD refers to him as an octopus and this notes audio commentary on the DVD Tide and Seek for the episode Sleepy Time.
- Hope that clears it up. Bovineboy2008 (talk) 20:42, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

- I just watched the episode where its really hot and Mr.Krabs hasn't paid the air conditioning bill at the Krusty Krab, and squidward looks at his hands, and makes a joke that "if it got any hotter, they would have to put fried calamari on the menu".
