Talk:Spiritual communion
Removed claim
[edit]I removed the claim In 1983, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith of the Catholic Church declared that all the effects of Holy Communion can be received through spiritual communion. because its only source was a WP:PRIMARY document from Rome, which did not appear to support the claim at any rate. A reliable secondary source would be required to support this claim, not just the primary one. Elizium23 (talk) 04:32, 6 April 2020 (UTC)
Quotation of Thomas Aquinas
[edit]"St. Thomas Aquinas defined Spiritual Communion as "an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Holy Sacrament and a loving embrace as though we had already received Him." I have been searching, and I cannot find this quotation in any of St Thomas' works. Many blogs and websites just quote this without searching for the source. Recently because of the pandemic, many are searching information about this topic. I think it is a quotation from St Alphonsus of Liguori in which he make a synthesis of the thought of Aquinas on this topic. I have the book of St Alphonsus, but not in English. --Guillermogp (talk) 09:55, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
