Hmm
[edit]It seems that some of the info in this article may be incorrect.
First: It says the spinotectal tract is "situated ventral to the lateral spinothalamic fasciculus". The image to the right confirms this. (Both fasciculi shaded blue, spinotectal not to be confused with tectospinal, "posterior spinothalamic" is same as lateral spinothalamic). But I have had issues with that diagram before and I think this one is more accurate. It shows the spinotectal tract (dorso)lateral to, and nowhere ventral to, the lateral spinothalamic tract. (Names are in Latin on lower right side of image.)
Second: Either way, it looks like the spinotectal tract is too far from the dorsal column (gracile and cuneate fasciculi), so it seems that the statement "The spinotectal tract... is supposed to arise in the dorsal column", may be incorrect.
If there are indeed problems with this article, can anyone with reliable knowledge correct it?

- The image in the article from page 669 shows the correct position.
- Cheers,
Merge to new page
[edit]Spinotectal tract is part of the spinomesencephalic pathway the term only used in refs used. Spinotectal fibers emerge from the spinomesencephalic tract so have merged to the new target.--Iztwoz (talk) 08:53, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
