Wouldn't both upper and lower lip be active articulators? When we speak we really move both, don't we? I'd rather say that the upper jaw is passive while only the lower jaw is active? Also, the article "Soft palate" states that "it is possible for the soft palate to retract and elevate during speech to separate the oral cavity (mouth) from the nasal cavity in order to produce the oral speech sounds.", so this, too, would be active. However, I'm really not an expert, so I don't want to mess up the article in case i'm wrong. Does anybody know what's right? 79.254.44.16 (talk) 12:38, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
