Talk:Special Action Force/Archive 1
Nonsense
[edit]So how is this unit 'formed along the lines of' the Special Air Service? The SAS is a military unit and the SAF is a police unit, so by definition they are fundamentally different There appears to be no correlation whatsoever between the organisational or operational structure of the British SAS and this unit. I think someone is trying to give this unit some prestige by falsely associating it with the legendary SAS —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.138.200 (talk) 17:46, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you were reading it and checking out the citation, it is already cited. Ominae (talk) 21:34, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
I notice that you didn’t answer my question. It is OK, I understand why you didn’t and I admire you for it. Is there anyone else who is not ashamed by lying and wants to try and justify the statement that ‘It is formed along the lines of the British SAS’ and how that is the case?
Yes, of course I read the citations and that is specifically why I asked the question. The citations give no evidence to justify the claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.138.200 (talk) 12:33, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Some people may not be at ease at this, but it's already there. Nothing I can do about it. Ominae (talk) 21:48, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
The first batch of SAF personnel was trained by SAS troopers. Also, the SAF was formed as a unit of the Philippine Constabulary, one of the four services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at that time. Therefore, the SAF was once a military unit. In 1991, the PC was demilitarized and merged with the Integrated National Police to form the Philippine National Police. The SAF continued to exist and retained its military character. If it's difficult for readers to understand why the Constabulary was part of the military, consider that presently in France the Gendarmerie is part of the military. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.213.111.210 (talk) 09:26, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Well according to President Aquino, the Philippines has no SAS equivalent...http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5hm3kMyqqnFg9mdv-Y8mARC-CBO1A ...In the article he clearly states that he will authorise the forming of a new elite unit designed along the lines of Britain's SAS. 58.166.69.179 (talk) 16:07, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- This will be interesting since the problem is the LRB is the military's CT unit. So whose jurisdiction should this belong to? The police or the military when things go FUBAR? Ominae (talk) 05:08, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
The Special Action Force were not the ones involved in the tour bus hostage crisis that took place in Manila.
[edit]Just a note, The Special Action Force were not the ones involved during the hostage crisis that took place in Manila last Monday. Those in the front line is The Manila Police SWAT which is a lower version. On the other hand, it is odd what those involved in the hostage crisis did not call on the SAF and if they did they were not involved in any attack.
