Part of the fleet
[edit]Q: Can't people consider Explorer to be among the shuttle fleet instead of a fake? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.151.77 (talk • contribs) —Preceding undated comment added 19:58, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- Explorer was intended from the outset to serve as a reproduction of a shuttle for visitors to see, and did/does not serve the Space Shuttle Program in any way, shape, or form. By contrast, Enterprise was originally built in order to do atmospheric testing, and was intended to be refitted for actual spaceflight (though the latter never occurred). Then Pathfinder was originally built as a static test article, and was later done up to visually resemble a shuttle. So no, Explorer is not a "real" space shuttle any more than my station wagon is a "real" space shuttle. SchuminWeb (Talk) 05:39, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Q: What year was Explorer built? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.151.77 (talk • contribs) 21:26, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
The Shuttle Explorer article should be labled as a stub. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.16.151.77 (talk • contribs) 20:42, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Name change
[edit]I removed the section on a possible name change as it was speculation, the references were simple news articles that didn't mention the shuttle by name. They made no reference to a name change. And one actually did refer to the space shuttle as "Explorer". If you want to add this section back in provide more that speculation based on pictures and news reports. An official announcement by NASA or the current owner would be the only thing I consider acceptable. Lotu (talk) 00:08, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
