[edit]I believe that part of this trail is also part of the E2 European Long-Distance Trail (leading eventually to Nice). This should probably be mentioned (with particulars that I don't have) in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.217.149.46 (talk) 17:09, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- Done. Only took 9 years. Dave.Dunford (talk) 08:31, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Merge proposal – bothies
[edit]There are stub articles for 6 bothies whose only claim to fame seems to be that they are on the SUW. If they are part of an official setup of bothies for the path, then I suggest they would be better described in this article on the path – they could have redirects from individual bothie names. John Dippie's Well
[edit]I removed the wording below, as it not especially relavent to this article, and the same information (but referenced) is in the Watch Water article. Grinner (talk) 07:56, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
- In the Lammermuir Hills, near Longformacus close to where the Way crosses the Watch Water, is John Dippie's Well. The well is marked by a carved stone "headstone" which tells that there is no sweeter water in the Lammermuir Hills. John Dippie was a gamekeeper and the reason the water was so sweet was that he added some whisky to it before the thirsty shooting parties slaked their thirsts. The "headstone" marks their appreciation.
- Good move. If the whole route and its landmarks and places of interest were described in detail, this wouldn't look so out of place, but its current prominence was anomalous. I don't know the site and it's a nice enough folk story, but I suspect it's not even a significant landmark on the SUW route. Dave.Dunford (talk) 08:23, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
