I'll take this review. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 04:45, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lede

[edit]
  • Would it be possible to fill out some of the relevant infobox parameters (area etc)?
Eh, I think most of these parameters are more appropriate for individual islands.
  • Is "collection" a typical term for islands? I would have used "group" in en-us, but en-uk may differ.
  • Mention which ocean/part of the globe they're in.
  • A mention of the discovery, and at least noting that the islands are unhabited, would be good.

Geography and geology

[edit]
  • The infobox says "southern Atlantic Ocean"; this section says "south of the Atlantic Ocean". Which is correct?
  • I don't think it's necessary to list the other South Sandwich Islands.
  • Why are Cook Island and Thule Island a pair? That's not mentioned anywhere else in the article.
Because they are next to each other and are separated only by a caldera. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:35, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wave-cut platform seems to be hyphenated in most usage.
  • Does the source indicate the orientation of the platform (ie whether the longer dimension is east-west etc)?
  • I can't parse sea level lowstands during glacials - can this be reworded and/or wikilinked?
  • Split the sentence beginning Bellingshausen and Thule Islands into two sentences.
  • The Bellingshausen Island dimensions should have only one significant figure in the conversion, rather than the current two.
  • Dimensions for all three islands should indicate orientation.
Added it for Cook and Bellingshausen. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:35, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would rewrite the following sentence as something like It is roughly triangular with Salamander Point in the north, Hardy Point in the southwest, and Isaacson Point in the southeast.
  • Give a wiktionary link for "pedunculate" since it's an uncommon word.
    • I would format it as [[wikt:pedunculate|pedunculate]].
  • The sentence starting with Inland, part of the island doesn't parse. It needs rewritten, and needs explanation of why there are two different heights for the peak.
  • That sentence also talks about crevassed ice, which contradicts the later sentence that claims the island is almost free of ice.
  • A number of dimensions like 500 metres (1,600 ft) should be in adjective form.
  • The mention of Mount Larsen should be moved later in the paragraph - it's currently awkwardly located within the shape description. Is the caldera part of the mountain?
  • The sentence starting One observation in 1962 seems to be missing a word or two.
  • Wikilink tephra

Eruption history

[edit]
  • The first sentence has very awkward phrasing. I suggest The simple structure of Bellingshausen Island implies it is probably among the most recently formed of the the South Sandwich Islands.
  • either islandboth islands
