Rest of FL vs gulf coast

Creation of page specifically for the S-Line.
[edit]Hello, I come to solicit the creation of a separate page for the S-Line between Raleigh and Richmond, particularly after works have begun to recover and grade-separate the line from Raleigh to Wake Forest to allow commuter trains to run on it, with the whole line expected to be completed soon after (here's a source you can look into: https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nc/charlotte/news/2024/07/01/officials-break-ground-on-new-raleigh-to-richmond-rail-line). The fact that the railroad is being restored for passenger traffic merits the creation of its own page, and yet there isn't any yet. 191.125.137.102 (talk) 12:49, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- The S-Line is not just Petersburg to Raleigh, but continues to Columbia, Savannah, Jacksonville and finally Tampa. I do not see a need for a whole new article for just one section of the S-line. --WashuOtaku (talk) 17:48, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- You're right there, however can a page for the line itself be created? There's already a page about the former operator that used to run it, however, unlike them, the line itself still exists, and the section being restored to working order could be included within the page.191.125.151.71 (talk) 15:31, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

- You're right there, however can a page for the line itself be created? Issues in the map on the S line project
[edit]The map for the S line shows a blue line gap for the line as it approaches Plant City, Florida and the meeting with the main line from Orlando to Tampa. Is the gap in line at the border area between Zephyrhills and Plant City? On the one hand, the map at OpenStreetMap [1] is showing continuous intact track from Waldo to Ocala to Dade City to Zephyrhils to Plant City. On the other hand, it appears from the aerial photos at Google Map that there may be tracks removed between Florida Avenue in Zephyrhills and the link of a spur line on the east leading to a rail yard in the northern part of Plant City. The image is fuzzy, but it appears that the rail crossing on Florida Avenue might not be intact.Dogru144 (talk) 18:59, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Regarding and S line gap in southeastern Georgia, OpenStreetMap shows trackage ending south of Riceboro in Liberty County, Georgia, south to Kingsland, Georgia, a municipality directly north of the Georgia-Florida border. This track formerly passed through and Townsend, Georgia and Thalmann, Georgia. It would also be good if the color coded red line and blue line map reflected the start and end points of gaps for context. (Thalmann is just due west of Brunswick. The Brunswick metropolitan area as of 2020 is 113,495; so, the area has potential for train ridership should the line be restored.)Dogru144 (talk) 19:20, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
