Important context missing

I'm not familiar with the sourcing and I'm unlikely to have the time to delve into it, but it's very strange to see no mention of the fact this location had a 24 hour coffee shop for something like a decade before it was under this ownership/name. I think it opened in the late 1990s. Maybe it wasn't continuous, I don't remember, but it certainly wasn't a new thing in 2009 to have a 24 hour coffee shop there, which is the sense I get from the article. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 19:10, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's OK Gerald Waldo Luis. I just found it amusing that you suggested I bring sources, when the very first thing I said was that I didn't have them and was unlikely to have time to find them. My original comment wasn't meant really to start a discussion, just to leave a note for whenever/whoever wants to improve this article in the future. For context, I am not really a fan of articles on topics like this, precisely because the thin sourcing makes it difficult to create and maintain a comprehensive and accurate Wikipedia article. But that's just my personal take. If we're going to have it here, it might as well be accurate and thorough...and at present, it's not. Peteforsyth, Funny, these are my favorite articles to work on because there's limited sourcing and a start and end to describe, as opposed to ongoing businesses which require more updating. I'm not opposed to adding a brief mention of the business which operated prior to Southeast Grind, but I don't recall coming across the name in my research for this article. Ah, this discussion did get my brain chewing on it, and I believe I remember the name: It was the Fireside Lounge (or maybe Fireside Coffee or Cafe). It was definitely open by 2005, and I believe several years before that. I'm sure the Oregonian and/or Willamette Week covered it; it was a big deal when it opened, apart from the Roxy (which was more of a diner) it was the only 24 hour coffee shop in town. While it's great that the owners of the Grind were able to keep it going for a decade, it would be nice to give credit where it's due, and not imply that the Grind had the first. -Pete Forsyth (talk) 23:21, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peteforsyth, Thanks for this, I will look into Fireside. Meantime, I don't think this article implies anything about SE Grind being a first. The article says SE Grind was the only 24-hr coffee shop as of 2019, shortly before closing, based on sources published then.
