The result of the move request was: Moved. I peruse all the pros and con's forwarded; there's consensus for move. I also noted the comment by Andrewa and followed the link but there's no any discussion there that can halt the move and this page has been on the backlog for two days. If there's any discussion later and new consensus, the page can be moved again.(non-admin closure) –Ammarpad (talk) 10:16, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
South Knoxville, Knoxville, Tennessee → South Knoxville – no evidence of necessity for disambiguation, since no other notable places by this name are likely to exist, and the city in Tennessee is the primary topic for "Knoxville" by a huge margin. Bneu2013 (talk) 07:38, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- Support per nom. No disambiguation is needed. CookieMonster755✉ 15:44, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
Weak Opposeper WP:USPLACE. Having this at South Knoxville while the city is at Knoxville, Tennessee is simply bizarre. I'd be fine with reducing the disambiguation to South Knoxville, Tennessee if that's not a misnomer. power~enwiki (π, ν) 21:10, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- power~enwiki – Per that criteria, should Anaheim Hills be at Anaheim Hills, Anaheim, California? Should Brooklyn be at Brooklyn, New York City? Should Hollywood be at Hollywood, Los Angeles? Neighborhoods that are not ambiguous or that are primary topic, do not need city/state disambiguation. It would technically be incorrect to use South Knoxville, Tennessee, as South Knoxville is not a separate city CookieMonster755✉ 21:56, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- I do think Anaheim Hills should be moved; Brooklyn and Hollywood are prominent enough that they should be exceptions. power~enwiki (π, ν) 21:57, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- WP:USPLACE is absent when it comes to neighborhoods. I see your point in opposing the move per WP:CONSISTENCY with the main article, but it seems that the consistency for unambiguous neighborhoods (or primary topic neighborhoods or equivalents) is to not include a city/state modifier. Anaheim Hills, Anaheim, California was moved to Anaheim Hills due to unnecessary disambiguation. CookieMonster755✉ 22:10, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, it says
Neighborhoods within a city are identified by the standard Neighborhood, City (e.g., Albany, Decatur, Highland Park, Louisville).
which would suggest South Knoxville, Knoxville as the page name. Which is also silly. power~enwiki (π, ν) 22:13, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for citing that, Power. I guess I missed that. It is quite redundant, which poses a problem. For the sake of consistency, should we have it at South Knoxville, Knoxville or simply at South Knoxville? Either way, the current title is problematic. CookieMonster755✉ 22:24, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- South Knoxville is better than South Knoxville, Knoxville. power~enwiki (π, ν) 22:54, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- That quote was just added to the guideline on 12 Nov. I've just clarified that it applies when disambiguation is necessary. The usual title for neighborhoods is simply its name. That's been consensus for a long time. Station1 (talk) 05:05, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, it says
- Support, no disambiguation is necessary. -- Tavix (talk) 01:36, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose, but would support reducing the current title to "South Knoxville, Knoxville" since this is form described by USPLACE for neighborhoods (as noted above). Though in this particular case the form admittedly winds up looking a tad repetitious, it's consistent with others in its category and also makes it clear that the subject is a neighborhood within the larger city. ╠╣uw [talk] 19:28, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- Weak support, though whatever we decide to do, we should probably apply it to East Knoxville, North Knoxville, and West Knoxville, as well. BrineStans (talk) 22:48, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- Support per WP:PRECISE. USPLACE was changed on 12 Nov without discussion. I've just clarified it. No need for disambiguation. Station1 (talk) 05:11, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
