2003 Sounder movie
[edit]This article is about the 1972 version, there is a 2003 disney remake that I think deserves a seperate article, if anyone is interested. I'm still fairly new to wikipedia, so if someone wants to help me start this page, let me know.(Zakariya bin Dana (talk) 14:40, 25 March 2009 (UTC))
Difference between opening credits and closing credits
[edit]Since this feature lists its cast in both the opening credits and in the end credits, it should be noted that, while the billing of the first seven names (Cicely Tyson, Paul Winfield, Kevin Hooks, Carmen Matthews, Taj Mahal, James Best, Eric Hooks) remains the same, the opening credits list the 8th-billed name as Yvonne Jarrel in the opening credits and as Yvonne Jarrell in the end credits. The 9th-billed name, Sylvia "Kuumba" Williams remains the same, while the 10th and final cast name in the opening credits, "and Janet MacLachlan" is replaced in the end credits by the billing "Ted Airhart as Mr. Perkins". The billing "Janet MacLachlan as Camille" is listed as the final name among the 29-name cast list in the end credits.
Furthermore, although the 4th-billed cast member's most frequently-credited stage name has been Carmen Mathews, her billing in both the opening and closing credits is Carmen Matthews. Also, the 18th-billed cast member, in his sole film credit, is listed as Carl Braser in AFI Catalog, IMDb and TCMDb, but his billing in the end credits is Carl Bruser. Finally, while a number of references, including IMDb and AFI Catalog (which uses [ ] brackets for the family surname), list the character names as "Rebecca Morgan", "Nathan Lee Morgan", "David Lee Morgan" and "Josie Mae Morgan", the film's end credits depict simply "Rebecca", "Nathan Lee", "David Lee" and "Josie Mae". —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 16:37, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
Also, according to IMDb and American Film Institute Catalog, in addition to the above-mentioned 18th-billed Carl Bruser, a number of other cast members may list Sounder as their sole film credit, starting with (also above-mentioned) 8th-billed Yvonne Jarrel/Yvonne Jarrell, 12th-billed Wendell Brumfield, 13th-billed Al Bankston, 14th-billed Merle Sharkey, 15-billed Inez Durham, 16th-billed Judge William Thomas Bennett, 17th-billed Reverend Thomas N. Phillips, 21st-billed Walker L. Chaney (listed on IMDb as Walter L. Chaney), 23rd-billed Randy Wilson (actor), 25th-billed Jackie Spears, 26th-billed Porter Mathews, 27th-billed Timothy Smith (actor) (missing from IMDb's cast list) and 28th-billed Spencer Bradford.
It may be further noted that, in addition to Sounder, 7th-billed Eric Hooks (the brother of 3rd-billed Kevin Hooks) has one other screen credit, 10th-billed Ted Airhart has three other credits, 11th-billed Richard Durham has three other credits, 20th-billed Pete Goff (actor) has two other credits, 22nd-billed Roy Idom has two other credits and 24th-billed Isaac Greggs has one other credit. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 15:01, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
