The result of the move request was: moved to Soufrière River. Favonian (talk) 09:34, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Soufriére RiverSoufriere River – Name often appears without diacritic; current title is probably wrong as the town is Soufrière. Peter E. James (talk) 08:43, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move to Soufrière River since currently at a spelling mistake. The fact that a couple of English medical books on a disease study in 1984 don't use French accents for place names and have "Soufriere" for the town Soufrière, for the mountain La Soufrière and for this river Soufrière shouldn't carry any weight - La Soufrière is a well known term across the French Caribbean. This little river is barely notable and so has almost no coverage of its own. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:00, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I had seen "Soufrière" and "Soufriere River" mentioned on a page, and had guessed that the difference was intentional, although I have now noticed that the place name appears in the same document without accent: [1]. Mentions on other sites vary - with ([2] [3]); without ([4] [5] [6]); and mixed ([7]). I now support a move to Soufrière River, for consistency with Soufrière, Saint Lucia, unless there is more evidence that the names are spelled differently. • Yep, this is a fairly common problem with relying on English sources for spelling of foreign person/place names. People who are competent aid-workers, engineers, doctors, etc don't automatically become experts in foreign names. For Soufrière volcano/town/bay/stream the tourist guidebooks are a better source. • Support, per St. Lucia Star. Kauffner (talk) 14:25, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Kauffner, I have to ask: why in foreign name related RMs do you go for the lowest quality available source? This website is not even consistent: in another 10 April 2012 article the same website spells Soufrière correctly. Why not take the best available source, like: Projects - Hope Soufriere "Several people lost furniture, beds, clothes etc. due to the flood of mud that swept through many houses as the Soufrière River broke its banks during Hurricane.
