I've removed these items:

  • Soto Betawi
  • Coto Makasar
  • Soto Madura
  • Soto Tangkar

Because "soto ayam" refers only to Soto (food) that is made from chicken (ayam=chicken). Those sotos that I've removed are made of beef. Matahari Pagi 05:29, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Koya

[edit]

"Occasionally, people will add "koya", a powder of mixed prawn crackers with fried garlic or bitter Sambal."
traditionally, koya is made from fried coconut. the description above (powder of prawn crackers) is a modified version of koya used in Soto Ambengan recipe.

Common

[edit]

An Indonesian IP removed Malaysia from a list of places where Soto Ayam is common [1]. While it was unsourced at the time, nor was anything else and I'm fairly sure a simple search would find then in 2011 as it does now in 2016 that Soto Ayam is common in Malaysia. It probably originated in Indonesia (the info here is limited but soto (food) is more compelling), but this is distinct from where it's common. Nil Einne (talk) 13:04, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
